As an educator with 14 years of one-on-one tutoring experience, I use up-to-date,
highly regarded instructional programs plus expertise acquired during 29 years as a
regular and special education teacher in the public schools and an adult educator
in hospital, business, and community college settings.

I created and taught educational programs to meet specific needs of students in
elementary school classrooms and for employees in a corporate setting, one of
which was highlighted in a publication for school psychologists and special
education directors, called “Clinic in the Classroom”.

My education includes a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Northeastern
Illinois University, Chicago. I obtained specialties in learning disabilities and
reading through coursework beyond my M.A. To prepare for my work as a private
tutor, I completed workshops in multisensory techniques for teaching basic reading
skills, reading comprehension and written language skill development.
Additionally, I completed training in Lindamood Bell LIPS and Visualizing and
Verbalizing Programs and the Wilson Reading Program.

I continue my education by attending relevant conferences and workshops, reading
journal articles pertinent to my interests, and participating in online study
groups on dyslexia, special needs, and learning disabilities.
